Merton Council Services: Housing, Care, Safety & Community Support
Overview
Merton is a London borough on the rise. We have bold plans to build a better Merton together, with residents at the heart of everything we do. We serve a vibrant and growing community of more than 220,000 people across Colliers Wood, Mitcham, Morden and Wimbledon.
Merton is one of the best-connected boroughs in south London. We sit at the start of both the Northern and District lines, with direct access into central London in around 20 minutes. That strong connection supports local jobs, thriving high streets, and new opportunities for residents and businesses.
As a council, we deliver the services people rely on every day. This includes support with housing, services for children and families, adult social care, community safety, environmental services, schools, planning, highways and customer services. Alongside day to day services, we are shaping the borough’s future through regeneration, climate action and strong community partnerships.
Our work is guided by three clear priorities:
- Civic Pride: We want Merton’s places, people and organisations to thrive. We work to strengthen local communities and help residents feel connected and proud of where they live.
- A sustainable borough: We are working towards a greener, healthier future. This includes more affordable and sustainable homes, cleaner neighbourhoods, strong schools, safer streets and support for healthy, active lives.
- Borough of Sport: Merton is becoming London’s first Borough of Sport. We believe sport can connect people, boost wellbeing and help communities grow stronger.
Our people are our greatest asset. We are always looking for talented individuals who want to make a difference. In return, we offer a supportive culture and a strong benefits package. We invest in development, encourage new ideas, and give staff the space to innovate and grow.
