Overview
Unity Housing Association is committed to building strong, sustainable neighbourhoods. We do this through high-quality housing, local support, and opportunities that help people thrive.
Unity Housing is modern, successful and forward-looking. We also aim to reflect the needs of tenants from all ethnic backgrounds. Our focus is simple: good homes, good services, and fair access to opportunity.
Our purpose
Housing that supports real lives
Unity Housing exists to provide choice and improve life chances. We work to address inequality through safe, affordable homes and services that support residents.
We believe housing is more than a building. A stable home can support health, work, education and community connection.
Our story
Founded to meet local need
Unity Housing was formed in 1987. It was created with a clear aim: to build a strong BME-led community housing association that could meet the housing needs of Black and Minority Ethnic communities across Leeds.
That mission still matters today. Unity Housing continues to be shaped by the communities it serves and works to ensure people feel seen, heard and supported.
What Unity Housing does
Providing affordable housing
Unity Housing is a registered social landlord with over 1,100 properties across Leeds and Huddersfield.
We provide affordable homes that meet local needs, with a focus on quality, safety and long-term value.
Delivering strong housing services
Unity Housing aims to deliver a customer service experience that is respectful, responsive and clear. We want residents to feel confident in the service they receive and comfortable raising issues when support is needed.
This includes:
- Managing tenancies fairly and consistently
- Supporting residents to sustain their tenancies
- Responding to repairs and maintenance needs
- Keeping communication clear and timely
Building stronger neighbourhoods
Unity Housing takes a neighbourhood approach. That means looking beyond the home and working on the wider factors that affect community wellbeing.
We work to support:
- Safer and cleaner neighbourhoods
- Positive resident relationships
- Community pride and belonging
Enterprise and business support
Backing local enterprise
Alongside housing, Unity Housing supports local economic growth. We provide and facilitate business support services and encourage local enterprise.
This approach helps create stronger local communities. It also supports employment, skills and opportunity for residents and local people.
