Description
The City of London is hiring a Senior Principal Project Manager for its Major Works Team.
This is a full-time, permanent role with hybrid working. The post is based in the Housing Service.
The Housing Service manages 12 estates and around 5,500 homes. Three estates are in the Square Mile, including the Barbican Estate. The other nine are in nearby London boroughs.
The Major Works Team leads a major capital programme across the social housing stock over the next 10 years. The work includes roof and window replacement, communal decorations, mechanical and electrical upgrades, fire safety works, internal decent homes works, and possible decarbonisation projects.
This role would suit an experienced Project Manager who can lead, coordinate, and deliver major works in a social housing setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead major works: Oversee planned maintenance and refurbishment projects across the housing stock
- Manage delivery: Help deliver projects on time, to budget, and to the right standard
- Coordinate contracts: Support project and contract management across major works programmes
- Work with stakeholders: Communicate with tenants, leaseholders, and other key contacts
- Support housing improvement: Help improve homes through repair, upgrade, fire safety, and refurbishment work

- Experienced: Strong background in project and contract management
- Knowledgeable: Good construction knowledge and understanding of client-side working
- Customer focused: Able to work well with tenants, leaseholders, and other stakeholders
- Strong communicator: Comfortable dealing with a wide range of people
- Motivated: Positive attitude, drive, and enthusiasm for delivery in a social housing environment
