Hedyn Housing and Community
Overview
Hedyn is a housing and community organisation in Wales.
Its vision is to create connected communities where everyone can live well. Hedyn uses its local knowledge, scale and housing expertise to support residents, communities and future generations.
The organisation was formed in April 2025 after the merger of Melin Homes and Newport City Homes. The name Hedynis Welsh for seed. It reflects growth, new starts and the chance to make positive change.
That is a lot for one small word to carry, but fair play, it does a better job than most corporate names cooked up in a meeting room with stale biscuits.
About Hedyn
Hedyn works across five local authority areas in Wales.
The organisation aims to bring people together and help build places where residents can thrive. Its work is rooted in customer service, community support and long-term improvement.
Hedyn is focused on more than housing alone. It wants to create stronger links between people, places and services. This means listening to residents, understanding local needs and helping communities grow in a way that lasts.
