Description
CHPK Group is looking for an experienced Clerk of Works to join its Project Management team in London.
You will oversee the quality and progress of construction projects. The role will focus mainly on façade and façade remediation projects. You may also support other projects when needed by the business.
You will inspect works on site, check quality and make sure contractors follow drawings, specifications, regulations and company standards.
This role is suited to someone with strong technical knowledge, a clear eye for detail and the confidence to report issues early.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect works: Carry out regular site inspections across construction projects.
- Check quality: Make sure work meets drawings, specifications and agreed standards.
- Monitor progress: Review construction progress against agreed schedules.
- Review workmanship: Check contractor workmanship, materials and methods.
- Identify defects: Report defects, gaps or deviations from specification.
- Support remediation: Help oversee façade and façade remediation works.
- Advise teams: Provide guidance to contractors, subcontractors and project teams.
- Liaise with stakeholders: Work with clients, architects, engineers and contractors.
- Prepare reports: Write clear site inspection reports, observations and recommendations.
- Support quality assurance: Help maintain quality processes and procedures.
- Keep knowledge current: Stay up to date with legislation, building codes and best practice.
- Improve standards: Support better construction methods, safety and quality.
About You
CHPK Group is looking for someone with:
- Clerk of Works experience: Proven experience in a Clerk of Works role.
- Professional qualification: MRICS or MICWCI qualification.
- Façade experience: Experience in façades and façade remediation.
- Construction knowledge: Strong knowledge of UK construction techniques and materials.
- Regulation knowledge: Good understanding of building codes and regulations.
- Health and safety knowledge: Strong awareness of health and safety guidelines.
- Quality focus: Good understanding of quality standards.
- Technical skills: Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Attention to detail: A careful and accurate approach to inspections and reports.
- Judgement: Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Organisation: Ability to manage several projects and priorities.
- Digital skills: Confidence using digital tools to record inspections and produce reports.
- Communication skills: A confident and proactive approach with project teams and stakeholders.
