Hackney is one of the UK’s highest performing local authorities. We serve one of London’s best places to live and work.
Over the past 15 years, Hackney has changed a lot. We went from being one of the worst rated local authorities to one of the best. We also managed some of the largest funding cuts in the country. Even with these pressures, we kept services strong, focused on residents, and worked to make Hackney fairer, safer and more sustainable.
Our staff are at the heart of our success and we thrive on challenge and change. Our mission is to make Hackney a place for everyone. We want all residents, whatever their background, to have the chance to lead healthy, successful lives.
We aim to create a borough people are proud of, with excellent services, thriving businesses and high-quality public spaces. We also want Hackney to be a place where everyone feels valued and able to speak up and be heard.
