Sevenoaks District Council | Great Service for Residents, High Quality Outcomes, and Supporting Our Staff to do their Best Work
Overview
Sevenoaks District Council (SDC) is a local authority with a strong reputation for performance and customer service. We like to say SDC also stands for Seriously Different Council. That is because we focus on three things: great service for residents, high quality outcomes, and supporting our staff to do their best work.
We are proud to be rated in the top 2% of district councils nationally for performance. We also hold the Investors in People Platinum accreditation, awarded in May 2016. This reflects our commitment to developing people and creating a supportive workplace.
Sevenoaks District is one of the largest districts in Kent, covering 142 square miles. Around 93% of the area is Green Belt, with many rural communities. At the same time, the district includes thriving towns such as Sevenoaks, Swanley, Edenbridge and Westerham. It is also known for its protected landscapes, including Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which cover more than 60% of the district.
We deliver far more than core services like council tax and waste collection. We provide over 50 services that help make the district a great place to live, work and visit. This includes planning and development, support for local businesses, keeping neighbourhoods clean and safe, providing grants for local projects, vehicle testing (MOT), and support with issues such as pest control.
Because of the range of services we deliver, we offer a wide variety of career opportunities. If you want to work in a council that values people, listens to residents, and delivers high standards, Sevenoaks District Council is a great place to build your career.
