Description
Lewisham Council is hiring a Repairs Manager to lead complex and cyclical repair work across its homes.
This is a newly created role. It sits between day-to-day repairs and large planned works. So, naturally, it handles the awkward middle ground where problems like to hide and multiply, because buildings are dramatic like that.
You will lead repair and cyclical work that keeps homes safe, compliant and in good condition. The role focuses on repeat, complex and high-risk issues. You will help stop small problems from becoming costly failures.
You will use data, trends and early warning signs to plan better work. The aim is to reduce repeat visits, avoid waste and give residents lasting solutions.
The role is based at Laurence House in Catford. Lewisham Council works in a hybrid way, with time split between the office and home.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex repairs: Manage repairs that sit outside standard responsive repairs.
- Manage cyclical works: Oversee repair activity that supports long-term home condition.
- Plan ahead: Spot trends and act before issues become more serious.
- Reduce repeat failure: Find lasting fixes for recurring building problems.
- Control costs: Help reduce avoidable spend through smarter planning.
- Support compliance: Make sure homes remain safe and well managed.
- Work across teams: Bring clarity where duties overlap.
- Make sound decisions: Balance risk, cost and resident impact.
- Improve resident outcomes: Deliver timely and lasting repair solutions.
About You
Lewisham Council is looking for someone who can:
- Solve complex problems: Take ownership of issues that do not fit normal processes.
- Think ahead: Spot patterns, risks and early warning signs.
- Challenge reactive working: Help move services from repeat fixes to planned solutions.
- Use evidence well: Make clear, balanced and practical decisions.
- Work with others: Influence teams and build strong working links.
- Stay calm under pressure: Manage risk and competing demands with confidence.
- Focus on outcomes: Put residents and safe homes at the centre of decisions.
- Meet role conditions: Be working towards, or hold, a relevant CIH Level 4 or above.
What Lewisham Council Offers

- Salary: £63,816 - £66,084 per annum, PO8.

- Pension: Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
