Description

Lewisham Council is hiring a Senior Property Surveyor. This is a full-time role based in London. The listed location is 1 Catford Road, London, SE6 4RU. The role is mainly based at Laurence House, with hybrid working from the office and home.

You will provide expert technical leadership across surveying work in the SIAM team. You will manage complex building surveys, lead a team of surveyors and help keep Lewisham’s housing stock safe, compliant and well maintained.

You will also support asset and stock investment managers. This will include work on compliance, budgets, resident contact, reports, specifications and project delivery.

This is a proper senior Surveyor role. Not just “review the property issue and circle back”, that timeless ritual humans invented to delay useful action.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead surveying work: Provide technical leadership across property surveying functions.
  • Manage complex cases: Take projects from first enquiry through to completion.
  • Support housing safety: Help make sure housing stock is safe, compliant and sustainable.
  • Lead a team: Manage, support, motivate and develop surveyors.
  • Produce reports: Write clear technical reports and specifications.
  • Cost solutions: Prepare costed options and support value for money.
  • Support investment work: Work with asset and stock investment managers.
  • Manage compliance: Help ensure work meets housing and statutory requirements.
  • Assess defects: Use technical knowledge to review building defects.
  • Support building safety: Apply knowledge of building safety, HHSRS and housing disrepair protocol.
  • Manage budgets: Help manage budgets linked to works and programmes.
  • Work with residents: Explain complex issues clearly to members of the public.
  • Liaise with contractors: Work with contractors to deliver safe, high-quality homes.
  • Manage risk: Support risk management within housing and asset work.
  • Improve standards: Help maintain housing stock to a high standard.

About You

  • Collaborative style: Ability to support teams and help deliver safe homes.

You will also need:

  • Qualification: Degree or equivalent in Building Surveying or a related construction subject.
