  • Process applications: Help process planning and building control applications.
  • Check accuracy: Make sure applications and records are accurate.

  • Support stakeholders: Provide clear support to residents, developers and partners.
  • Process fees: Assist with invoicing, fee processing and financial tracking where needed.
  • Improve services: Support digital change and service improvement work.
  • Deliver customer service: Help provide a professional and timely service.

About You

  • A team player: Proactive, flexible and willing to support colleagues.
  • Interested in planning: Knowledge or interest in planning and building control would help.
  • Willing to learn: Training will be provided.

Local authority experience would be useful, but it is not essential.

Application Tips

For this Building Control support role, focus on your admin, customer service and IT experience. Give clear examples of how you have processed applications, managed records, handled enquiries or supported busy teams. Mention any work with databases, document systems, fees, invoices, consultations or local authority services. Keep your supporting statement direct and matched to the person specification. The panel needs evidence, not a vague tribute to being “organised”, humanity’s most overused job advert adjective.
