Description
Merton Council is looking for a Building Control Surveyor to join its established Building Control team.
The team includes both experienced and developing surveyors. This career-graded role is open to experienced and partly qualified applicants.
You will work across a varied range of developments in South London. This includes projects linked to local regeneration. The service also supports technical work linked to safety at sports grounds.
This is a strong chance to develop your Building Control career. Merton will support further learning where this is suitable.
Key Responsibilities
- Building Control work: Support the council’s Building Control service.
- Varied projects: Work across a mix of local developments.
- Regeneration: Support work linked to regeneration across the borough.
- Public safety: Help promote safe and compliant building work.
- Sports grounds: Support technical work linked to safety at sports grounds.
- Teamwork: Work with experienced and developing surveyors.
- Professional standards: Carry out work within your level of registration and competence.
- Dangerous structures: There may be an option to join the out-of-hours standby rota.
About You
Merton welcomes applications from experienced and partly qualified candidates.
You should have:
- Relevant experience: Building Control experience suited to the career grade.
- Registration: Registered Building Inspector status.
- Preferred registration: Class 2 registration is preferred.
- Developing inspectors: Applicants with Class 1 registration may also be considered.
- Technical skills: The ability to assess building work within your competence.
- Safety focus: A clear commitment to public and building safety.
- Teamwork: The ability to work well with colleagues.
- Development focus: An interest in further learning and career growth.
