Description
Slough Borough Council is looking for an experienced Technical Surveyor to join its Disabled Facilities Grant and Home Improvement Service.
You will help deliver home adaptations for residents who need support to live safely and independently. The work will include property surveys, drawings, specifications and contractor management.
This role sits within Adult Social Care. You will work closely with occupational therapy staff and other council teams. Together, you will help improve homes for some of the borough’s most vulnerable residents.
You will manage each project through to completion. You will also make sure work is delivered on time, within budget and to a good standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Property surveys: Inspect homes and assess the work required.
- Home adaptations: Support Disabled Facilities Grant and home improvement projects.
- Specifications: Prepare clear schedules and specifications of work.
- Drawings: Produce drawings for proposed adaptations.
- Contractors: Appoint, manage and monitor contractors.
- Project delivery: Manage work from the first survey through to completion.
- Budgets: Help make sure projects stay within agreed costs.
- Quality checks: Check that completed work meets the required standard.
- Joint working: Work with Adult Social Care and occupational therapy colleagues.
- Resident outcomes: Help residents remain safe and independent at home.
About You
You should have:
- Surveying experience: Experience working as a Technical Surveyor or in a similar role.
- Property knowledge: The ability to inspect homes and identify suitable building work.
- Technical skills: Experience preparing specifications and drawings.
- Contractor management: The ability to manage contractors through to completion.
- Project skills: Experience delivering work on time and within budget.
- Quality focus: A clear commitment to high standards.
- Communication: The ability to work well with residents, colleagues and contractors.
- Teamwork: Confidence working across social care and occupational therapy services.
- Resident focus: An understanding of the needs of vulnerable residents.
- Organisation: The ability to manage a busy workload and rising service demand.

- Contract: Permanent role.
- Hours: 37 hours per week.
- Working pattern: Full-time hybrid role.
