Bureau Veritas is looking for a Principal Registered Building Inspector to support clients across England and Wales.
This is a full-time role with a flexible UK location. The package includes a competitive salary, car allowance, benefits and a retention bonus of up to £10,000.
The role is focused on the Building Safety Act 2022 and related secondary legislation. You will advise duty holders on new and existing buildings. This includes higher-risk buildings and, in some cases, non-higher-risk buildings.
You will support projects through design, construction and occupation. You will help clients understand their duties, manage building safety risks and prepare the right information for regulatory approval.
This is a senior technical role. It will suit an experienced Building Inspector with strong knowledge of building safety, Building Regulations and higher-risk buildings.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients: Provide expert advice on the Building Safety Act 2022 and related duties.
- Support duty holders: Help clients understand their legal duties and competence needs.
- Review compliance risks: Identify possible Building Safety Act compliance risks.
- Support Gateway 2: Review and advise on building control approval submissions.
- Support Gateway 3: Review and advise on completion certificate submissions.
- Audit golden thread information: Review project information and check it is complete and reliable.
- Attend design meetings: Support clients and project teams during design team meetings.
- Review competence submissions: Assess team competence evidence where needed.
- Liaise with Building Control: Work with Building Control teams on design reviews and compliance trackers.
- Support site assurance: Liaise with Independent Construction Assessor teams on site audits.
- Escalate risks: Raise key issues with the Director of Assurance Services where needed.
- Prepare proposals: Identify client needs and produce proposals for assurance services.
- Support business growth: Contribute to business development and service improvement.
- Maintain quality: Deliver projects to agreed standards and quality requirements.
- Improve services: Help develop new assurance services across the business.
About You
Bureau Veritas is looking for someone with:
- RBI registration: Registered Building Inspector Class 3G/H.
- Professional status: Accredited RICS, CABE, CIOB or RIBA status.
- Built environment experience: Extensive post-qualification experience in the built environment.
- Higher-risk building experience: Demonstrable experience working with higher-risk buildings.
- Building Safety Act knowledge: Strong understanding of the Building Safety Act 2022.
- Building Regulations knowledge: Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and related procedures.
- Design or project background: Experience as a Senior Design Manager, Project Manager, Architect or similar senior technical role.
- Systems knowledge: Understanding of buildings as systems, building systems, construction products and materials.
- Competence review skills: Ability to identify competence and capacity gaps using relevant frameworks.
- Client-facing skills: Confidence advising commercial clients and project teams.
- Communication skills: Ability to explain technical and legal duties clearly.
- Stakeholder skills: Ability to work with internal teams, consultants, clients and regulators.
- Commercial awareness: Ability to support proposals and service growth.
- Quality focus: A structured and evidence-led approach to technical assurance.
