Description

Bellrock is looking for a Building Regulations Principal Designer to join its Compliance team.

This role will support clients across public and private sector projects. Work may include new build, refurbishment, tall building remediation, maintenance schemes, NHS sites, universities and data centres.

You will give expert advice on the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations. You will help clients and project teams plan, manage and monitor design work.

The role covers projects across London, the Home Counties and the South East. You will work from 5 Merchant Square, Paddington, London, and from home.

This role suits someone with strong Building Regulations knowledge. You should be confident working with clients, contractors and duty holders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Give advice on the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations.
  • Apply BSA 2022 duties at project level.
  • Plan, manage and monitor design work.
  • Carry out plan checks.
  • Review designs for Building Regulations compliance.
  • Work with clients, designers and contractors.
  • Coordinate with all duty holders.
  • Prepare End of Design Stage Reports.
  • Maintain Building Regulations trackers.
  • Share key information with the principal contractor.
  • Review comments from the principal contractor.
  • Support clients with information sharing.
  • Prepare close-out documents after appointments end.
  • Manage agreed fees and invoicing.
  • Support debtor control.
  • Explore cross-sell opportunities with wider Bellrock teams.

About You

  • At least 10 years’ construction industry experience.
  • Experience with Building Regulations.
  • Experience leading or reviewing designs.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Good understanding of design and construction.
  • Hands-on experience inspecting buildings or properties.
  • Degree in a construction-related field.
  • Design-focused degree would be useful.
  • Membership of RICS, CABE, CIOB, ARB or RIBA would be useful.
  • Full and clean driving licence.
  • Willing to travel across London, the Home Counties and the South East.
  • Clear and confident communicator.
  • Able to manage your own workload.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Comfortable working with external stakeholders.
  • Able to make sound decisions.
  • Strong team player.
