Description

Sovereign Network Group is looking for a Safety and Compliance Specialist - Fire to join its team in Basingstoke. SNG provides affordable homes across London and the South. This role helps make sure its homes are managed in a safe and compliant way. You will act as the landlord’s authorised person for fire safety. You will give clear technical advice, manage fire safety activity, and help SNG meet its legal duties.

This is a key Safety and Compliance role. You will focus on fire risk, active and passive fire measures, contract management, and customer safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fire safety compliance: Help make sure SNG meets its fire safety duties as a landlord.
  • Authorised person role: Act as the landlord’s authorised person for fire safety matters.
  • Technical advice: Provide competent advice and guidance on fire safety compliance.
  • Fire risk assessments: Lead the fire risk assessment programme on a risk-based basis.
  • Standards and guidance: Support work linked to PAS 9980, PAS 79 and PAS 792.
  • Fire doors: Manage pre-occupation fire door assessments.
  • REG38: Be responsible for the REG38 sign-off process.
  • Risk actions: Make sure actions from fire risk assessments are progressed, fixed and recorded.
  • Primary Fire Authority: Act as the central point of contact for liaison with the Primary Fire Authority.
  • Contract management: Manage fire-related contracts and help resolve problems.
  • Compliance recovery: Identify and escalate non-compliance issues with clear solutions.
  • Regulatory change: Identify changes in rules that may affect SNG’s homes and services.
  • Customer outcomes: Help deliver safe and timely outcomes for customers.

About You

You should have:

  • Fire safety qualification: A Level 4 qualification in Fire Safety.
  • Sector experience: Experience leading fire subject matter experts in the housing sector.
  • Professional membership: Membership of the IFE, IFSM or an equivalent body.
  • Fire assessment award: An award in Practical Fire Risk Assessment, such as IFE or CS Todd.
  • Legislation knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge of fire safety law and building regulations.
  • Technical knowledge: Strong knowledge of active and passive fire measures.
  • Risk knowledge: Practical knowledge of fire risk assessments and risk controls.
  • Data quality skills: Knowledge of how to monitor data quality and identify issues.
  • Issue management: The ability to validate, assess and escalate data issues.
  • Data protection awareness: Experience protecting and monitoring data against misuse and loss.
  • Delivery focus: Experience working to deadlines and meeting targets through your own work and through teams.
  • Communication skills: The ability to give clear advice and work well with others.
