Description

Centrick is hiring a Senior Building Safety Manager in Birmingham, West Midlands.

This is a permanent, full-time role. It offers a competitive salary and car allowance.

Centrick is a residential property business. Since 2005, it has grown into a national company with global reach. It manages buildings and estates of many types and sizes.

The business provides property management, sales, lettings, cleaning, caretaking and maintenance services. Its head office is in central Birmingham, with teams across the UK.

In this role, you will lead and develop Centrick’s Building Safety service. You will help make sure the service meets high standards and follows the law.

You will oversee work linked to remediation, safety cases, resident engagement, inspections and Golden Thread data. So, yes, this is not a “sit in meetings and admire a dashboard” role. This is actual responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Building Safety: Develop the Building Safety service and help ensure strong standards.
  • Support compliance: Make sure work meets legal and regulatory duties.
  • Oversee remediation: Manage key remediation programmes across the portfolio.
  • Lead safety cases: Oversee Safety Case production and related risk work.
  • Engage residents: Support clear resident engagement across Building Safety activity.
  • Manage inspections: Oversee site inspections, audits and assurance work.
  • Manage Golden Thread data: Support clear, accurate and useful building safety information.
  • Improve delivery: Drive service quality, efficiency and commercial value.
  • Shape strategy: Help lead strategy within the Building Safety and Compliance team.
  • Respond to change: Keep the service ready for new rules and guidance.
  • Lead the team: Manage and develop a team of five specialists.
  • Build culture: Promote training, competence and clear career pathways.
  • Work with others: Build strong links with internal teams and residents.
  • Improve systems: Review and improve processes, systems and ways of working.

About You

You will need strong Building Safety or Fire Safety experience.

You should understand high-rise residential buildings and the rules that apply to them. You will also need to lead people, manage risk and work well with residents and internal teams.

You will need:

  • Relevant qualifications: Building Safety and/or Fire Safety qualifications, such as Level 6 Building Safety, NEBOSH Fire or equivalent.
  • Professional membership: Membership of a recognised body, or working towards this.
  • Useful memberships: MCIOB, MIFireE, MRICS, IOSH or MIFSM are examples.
  • Legal knowledge: Strong knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety law and related guidance.
  • High-rise experience: Experience managing high-rise residential buildings.
  • Programme experience: Experience delivering remediation and compliance programmes.
  • Safety case skills: Experience with Safety Case production.
  • Risk management: Ability to manage risk and work with regulators.
  • Team leadership: Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Assurance work: Experience overseeing inspections, audits and assurance activity.
  • Golden Thread knowledge: Strong understanding of Golden Thread duties and data management.
  • Improvement focus: Ability to drive accountability and continuous improvement.

How to Apply

Apply through the Centrick recruitment process.

Make sure your application shows your Building Safety experience, Fire Safety knowledge and work with high-rise residential buildings.

You should also include examples of safety case work, remediation programmes, Golden Thread data, resident engagement and team leadership.

Application Tips

Use clear examples from your Building Safety or Fire Safety work. Show how you have led teams, managed high-rise buildings, improved compliance and worked with regulators. Make your qualifications and memberships easy to find. Also show how you manage resident engagement, because safe buildings still need clear communication with actual humans, inconvenient though that may be.
