Description

Laing O'Rourke is hiring a Building Regulations Principal Contractor Compliance Coordinator in Stansted.

This is a permanent role supporting the Stansted Transformation Project.

You will help project teams meet their duties where Laing O'Rourke is acting as the Building Regulations Principal Contractor. The focus is on planning, managing, monitoring, and coordinating regulated building work under Part 2A of the Building Regulations.

This role is a good fit for someone with strong site experience, good records management, and a practical understanding of Compliance on major projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support project teams: Help delivery teams meet BRPC duties during the construction phase
  • Work with others: Liaise with the client, BR Principal Designer, contractors, and designers
  • Check competence: Support systems to assess, record, and review contractor competence
  • Inspect sites: Carry out regular risk-based inspections and record findings
  • Drive action: Help make sure issues are closed out properly
  • Join formal inspections: Attend inspections with the Registered Building Inspector or Registered Building Control Approver where needed
  • Keep records: Maintain clear and auditable records of checks, inspections, and dutyholder communication
  • Promote good practice: Encourage strong compliance behaviours and continuous improvement
  • Share learning: Pass improvement ideas to the central Building Safety team

About You

  • Experienced: Around 10 years or more in the built environment, ideally on major projects
  • Knowledgeable: Comfortable working with Building Regulations and complex compliance requirements
  • Strong communicator: Calm, collaborative, and able to work with different stakeholders
  • Inspection focused: Experience of site inspection and strong documentation
  • Organised: Able to prioritise work and deliver in a fast-moving project setting
  • Commercially aware: Good business awareness and customer focus

Desirable qualifications:

  • Relevant degree: In building surveying, building control, architecture, structural engineering, fire engineering, construction management, or a related subject
  • Professional status: Chartered or working towards chartership with RIBA, CABE, RICS, or similar
