Description
The London Borough of Redbridge is looking for a Building, Compliance & People Safety Coordinator to join its Asset Management team.
This is a full-time role. You will work 36 hours per week. The role is based at Orchard (West) Housing Office, Woodford Green.
You will help make sure homes and buildings are safe, compliant and well managed. You will work with internal teams, contractors and external partners.
The role supports key areas of building compliance, including electrical safety, fire safety, gas servicing, water hygiene, lift servicing and other safety programmes.
You will maintain compliance data, support contract management and prepare reports. Your work will help keep tenants, leaseholders and local communities safe.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor Compliance schedules: Make sure checks, servicing and inspections are completed on time.
- Maintain records: Keep accurate compliance data and records.
- Check data: Reconcile information between compliance systems and the housing management system.
- Prepare reports: Produce KPI reports, dashboards and performance summaries.
- Support safety programmes: Help track work linked to fire safety, gas, electrical, water and lifts.
- Support access: Help with access procedures and enforcement documents where needed.
- Assist contract management: Support contractors, contracts and related procurement work.
- Support procurement: Help with procurement activity linked to compliance services.
- Advise colleagues: Provide support and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders.
- Check data quality: Make sure records are accurate, complete and in line with council policy.
- Support budgets: Help monitor budgets and authorise works up to £500.
- Improve ways of working: Suggest better and smarter processes where possible.
- Support residents: Help deliver safe and effective services for tenants and leaseholders.
About You
Redbridge Council is looking for someone with:
- Compliance knowledge: A strong understanding of statutory and non-statutory compliance in social housing.
- Reporting experience: Experience preparing compliance reports, KPIs and performance summaries.
- IT skills: Advanced IT skills, including use of databases and reporting tools.
- Planning skills: Ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication.
- Stakeholder skills: Ability to work with internal teams, contractors and external partners.
- Customer focus: A commitment to good service for residents.
- Community awareness: Experience working with diverse communities and vulnerable residents.
- Problem-solving skills: Ability to think creatively and suggest better ways of working.
- Team working: A positive approach to working in a busy and collaborative team.

- Relevant qualification: A compliance-related qualification or relevant experience would be highly desirable.
