Bellrock is hiring an Account Director - Technical & Safety in Bristol.
This is a permanent full-time role based in Bristol, BS35 4GG. The working pattern is Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00.
This is a senior leadership role. You will lead a high-risk facilities management contract in a critical environment. You will hold full commercial responsibility while also acting as the senior technical authority for engineering risk, resilience, and compliance.
You will work across mechanical, electrical, controls, and life safety systems. The role suits an experienced Account Director who can lead safely, manage technical risk, and run a complex contract with strong financial control.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical safety: Provide senior leadership across mechanical, electrical, controls, and life safety systems
- Set standards: Make sure engineering standards meet legal duties, manufacturer guidance, and best practice
- Manage risk: Oversee safe systems of work, switching, isolation, change control, and technical risk assessments
- Oversee maintenance: Make sure statutory, mandatory, and critical planned maintenance is delivered properly
- Support operations: Oversee reactive and emergency works with clear priority on business impact and safety risk
- Lead compliance: Take senior responsibility for compliance across electrical, mechanical, pressure systems, water hygiene, fire safety, F-Gas, and specialist plant
- Manage audits: Lead internal and external audits and make sure actions are completed properly
- Protect critical systems: Oversee HV and LV distribution, UPS, generators, chillers, boilers, clean utilities, BMS, and life safety systems
- Lead incident response: Support technical incident management, root cause reviews, and lessons learned
- Plan assets: Maintain strong asset data and develop lifecycle and capital replacement plans
- Drive performance: Use analytics and data to improve plant performance, resilience, and maintenance planning
- Own the contract: Hold full P&L responsibility, including revenue, margin, cost control, and forecasting
- Lead governance: Run reviews, reporting, and client governance meetings
- Manage suppliers: Oversee supplier performance, competence, and compliance
- Promote culture: Act as a visible safety leader and support continuous improvement
About You
- Experienced: At least 5 years of facilities experience in critical environments or process manufacturing, ideally semiconductors
- Leadership background: Strong experience in contract management and technical leadership
- Technically qualified: Qualification in a relevant discipline such as electrical, mechanical, chemical, or process engineering
- Financially capable: Senior-level budget management experience
- Management trained: ILM or CMI Level 5
- Technically strong: Good understanding of engineering risk, resilience, compliance, and asset performance
- Client confident: Able to explain technical risk in commercial and operational terms
- Organised: Comfortable managing complex services, people, suppliers, and reporting
- Open to new tools: Confident using AI in day-to-day work and interested in improving how work is delivered
