Description
Cornwall Council is looking for a Compliance Officer to join its Property and Asset Service.
This is a full-time, permanent role based at Chy Trevail, Bodmin, Cornwall, PL31 2FR. You will work 37 hours per week.
The Property and Asset Service manages the council’s large land and property portfolio. The Compliance Team helps make sure the council’s estate is safe, well managed and legally compliant.
You will help deliver property inspections and audits across a wide range of council buildings. You will also monitor property risk assessments and support compliance with key laws and standards.
This includes duties under the Equality Act 2010, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, and parts of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
So yes, this is one of those roles where details matter. Buildings, sadly, do not stay compliant because someone once put a policy in a folder and hoped for the best.

- Maintain records: Keep clear records of audits, inspections and compliance actions.
- Support assurance: Work in line with the Corporate Landlord Assurance approach.

Application Tips
For this Compliance role, focus on your property inspection, audit and risk assessment experience. Give clear examples of how you have used CAFM systems, tracked contractor actions and reported compliance performance. Mention your knowledge of fire safety, health and safety, equality duties and property standards. Keep your supporting statement clear and answer each question directly. Evidence beats vague enthusiasm, despite humanity’s enduring affection for the phrase “I am passionate about compliance”.
