Description

Bureau Veritas is looking for a Senior Registered Building Inspector to support clients with building control, compliance and building safety advice.

This role will focus on Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act 2022 and related secondary legislation. You will advise duty holders on new and existing buildings, including higher-risk buildings and some non-higher-risk buildings.

You will work across the design, construction and occupation phases of a building. You will inspect works, review plans and provide clear advice to clients and project teams.

This is a senior technical role. It will suit someone with strong Building Control experience, good client skills and a clear understanding of higher-risk buildings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients: Support commercial clients on Building Regulations and property compliance.
  • Support Building Safety Act duties: Advise duty holders on legal and procedural requirements.
  • Inspect works: Carry out inspections across a range of building projects.
  • Review plans: Check plans, drawings and technical information for compliance.
  • Lead projects: Manage work across mid-rise and high-rise building projects.
  • Support higher-risk buildings: Provide advice on buildings within the scope of building safety legislation.
  • Prepare reports: Write clear technical reports and inspection records.
  • Keep records: Make sure project and inspection information is entered correctly on systems.
  • Prepare quotes: Support bid and quote preparation.
  • Support business growth: Build strong relationships and follow up project leads.
  • Act as project contact: Liaise with external stakeholders and clients.
  • Coach colleagues: Share technical knowledge with Assistant Surveyors and Surveyors.
  • Follow QA processes: Work in line with Bureau Veritas quality procedures.
  • Support improvement: Help develop new assurance services and improve processes.
  • Maintain CPD: Attend training and keep professional knowledge up to date.

About You

Bureau Veritas is looking for someone with:

  • RBI registration: Registered Building Inspector Class 2F.
  • Professional status: Accredited RICS, CABE, CIOB or RIBA status.
  • Building Control experience: Strong experience as an Approved Inspector or in Building Control.
  • Higher-risk building experience: Demonstrable experience working with higher-risk buildings.
  • Built environment background: Extensive post-qualification experience in the built environment.
  • Relevant qualification: Ideally degree level, or equivalent, in Building Control or Building Surveying.
  • Building Regulations knowledge: Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations.
  • Building Safety Act knowledge: Good knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022 and related duties.
  • Client-facing skills: Confidence working with commercial clients.
  • Commercial awareness: Ability to support fee proposals, quotes and business development.
  • Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Stakeholder skills: Ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
  • IT skills: Competence using Microsoft Office.
  • Workload management: Ability to manage a busy and varied caseload.
