Description
Anchor is looking for an experienced Building Safety Surveyor to join its Resident and Building Safety Team. This role is remote, with regular travel across Yorkshire and nearby areas. You will lead key fire safety and Building Safety programmes across a varied housing portfolio. Your work will help make sure residents live in safe, compliant and well maintained homes.
This role is important because each project supports resident safety and helps Anchor work towards full Fire Risk Assessment compliance. You will manage fire safety improvement works from early scoping through to completion and handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Fire safety programmes: Lead major fire safety and Building Safety improvement projects.
- Project delivery: Manage works from scoping through to completion and handover.
- Active fire protection: Support fire alarm replacement programmes linked to BS 5839.
- Emergency lighting: Manage emergency lighting upgrades linked to BS 5266.
- Fire equipment: Support firefighting equipment installation and improvements.
- Passive fire protection: Manage fire door, fire stopping and compartmentation works.
- Structural protection: Support structural fire protection improvements.
- FRA compliance: Help deliver actions linked to Fire Risk Assessments.
- Risk management: Identify and reduce safety risks across the portfolio.
- Contractor performance: Monitor contractors and support good quality delivery.
- Resident confidence: Help improve resident trust through safe and well managed works.
- Best practice: Support better ways of working across Building Safety delivery.
About You
You should have:
- Surveying experience: Building surveying experience with a strong fire safety focus.
- Programme delivery: Experience delivering FRA remediation and fire safety programmes.
- Technical knowledge: Strong knowledge of Building Safety, fire safety and health and safety law.
- Social housing knowledge: Understanding of compliance needs in the social housing sector.
- Protection systems: Good knowledge of active and passive fire protection systems.
- Contractor management: Experience managing contractor performance.
- Planned works: Experience delivering planned works projects.
- Stakeholder skills: The ability to work well with operational teams and manage project communication.
- Leasehold knowledge: Experience in projects involving leasehold schemes under or over Section 20 thresholds.
- Safety qualification: NEBOSH, IOSH or an equivalent safety qualification.
- Fire door knowledge: Fire Door Inspection Scheme qualification.
- Fire stopping knowledge: Fire Stopping Inspection Course or equivalent.
- CDM knowledge: Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015.
- Driving licence: A full UK driving licence.
