Description

Anchor is looking for a Building Safety Surveyor to cover the North East.

This is a remote role covering Tyne and Wear, Northumberland, County Durham and Teesside. You will work 37.5 hours per week.

The salary is £43,735, plus a £5,800 car allowance.

You will oversee local and regional projects linked to fire risk remediation and building safety. You will help make sure works are planned, tracked and completed in line with Anchor’s standards, fire safety law and relevant guidance.

The role includes fire door surveys, compartmentation surveys, active fire protection projects and Fire Risk Assessment actions. You will work with contractors, IT teams, Health & Safety teams and operational colleagues to support safer homes for residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee surveys: Manage fire door and compartmentation survey activity.
  • Support fire risk work: Help identify and reduce fire risks across Anchor’s properties.
  • Manage projects: Oversee local and regional building safety projects.
  • Track FRA actions: Support full compliance with Fire Risk Assessment directives.
  • Coordinate contractors: Work with contractors to progress remedial actions.
  • Support active fire protection: Oversee the delivery of active fire protection projects.
  • Work with internal teams: Liaise with IT, Health & Safety and operational teams.
  • Monitor deadlines: Make sure actions and projects are completed on time.
  • Support compliance: Ensure delivery follows Anchor’s standards, fire safety law and guidance.
  • Communicate updates: Keep stakeholders informed on progress, risks and issues.
  • Support leasehold schemes: Manage project communication where Section 20 thresholds may apply.
  • Resolve issues: Help find practical solutions to maintain fire compliance.

About You

Anchor is looking for someone with:

  • Building Safety experience: Experience supporting building safety or fire compliance work.
  • Project management skills: A track record of managing projects, actions and deadlines.
  • FRA knowledge: Experience managing or escalating Fire Risk Assessment actions.
  • Survey experience: Knowledge of fire doors, compartmentation or related surveys.
  • Contractor management: Experience coordinating contractors and tracking delivery.
  • Problem-solving skills: Ability to find practical ways to achieve and maintain compliance.
  • Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Influencing skills: Ability to negotiate and work well with different stakeholders.
  • Team working: Experience working with operational teams.
  • Leasehold awareness: Experience with project communication in leasehold schemes, including schemes above or below Section 20 thresholds.
  • Resident focus: A clear commitment to safer homes and good service.
