Fire Risk Assessor | Full Time | London | £54,523

Riverside is looking for a Fire Risk Assessor to join its fire safety team.

This is a permanent, full-time role. You will work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The role is based in London.

You will deliver Fire Risk assessment services across residential homes, care and support schemes, and other properties where Building Safety has responsibility.

You will carry out surveys, complete assessments and follow up actions. You will help Riverside meet fire safety law, internal procedures and health and safety duties.

This Fire Risk role suits someone with strong residential fire safety experience. You should be able to inspect buildings, write clear reports and give practical advice that helps reduce risk.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out Type 1, Type 3 and Type 4 fire risk assessments.
• Inspect residential homes and care and support schemes.
• Assess community halls, offices, warehouses and workshops where needed.
• Identify fire hazards and risks.
• Review existing fire safety controls.
• Recommend practical risk controls.
• Produce clear Fire Risk assessment reports.
• Carry out surveys in line with the programme.
• Complete surveys after major works.
• Support pre-occupation and post-occupation surveys.
• Check new build homes against fire safety duties.
• Support compliance with the Fire Safety Order 2005.
• Support compliance with Building Regulations and related legislation.
• Liaise with residents where needed.
• Support person-centred fire risk assessments.
• Support PEEPs for residents who need help in an evacuation.
• Coordinate contractors during destructive inspections.
• Help make sure intrusive survey works are made good properly.
• Complete post-inspections and quality checks.
• Help manage fire safety actions through to completion.
• Investigate fire incidents and make recommendations.
• Build strong working links with internal teams.
• Promote a positive fire safety culture.

About You

• Experience working as a fire risk assessor.
• Experience in residential housing and care and support schemes.
• Evidence of applying BS 9792:2025 and PAS 79-1.
• Experience completing at least 20 fire risk assessments in low to moderate risk buildings.
• At least 12 months’ relevant practical experience.
• Minimum of 2 to 3 years’ relevant fire risk assessment experience.
• Able to carry out site visits and physical inspections.
• Able to access loft spaces by ladder.
• Strong understanding of risk mitigation.
• NEBOSH Fire Certificate or Diploma, or equivalent.
• Certified in Applied Fire Risk Assessment, or equivalent.
• Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety, or equivalent.
• ASFP Level 3 in Passive Fire Protection, or equivalent.
• Membership of a third-party accreditation scheme such as BAFE, LPCB, IFE or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of fire and building safety in social housing.
• Good knowledge of government and industry guidance.
• Good knowledge of British Standards and Building Regulations.
• Good knowledge of the Fire Safety Order 2005.
• Strong literacy and communication skills.
• Able to manage internal and external stakeholders.
• Good presentation skills.
• Experience working for a BAFE SP205 accredited organisation.
• Experience with fire safety systems, testing and records.
