External Wall Consultant | Full time | London | £50,000 – £63,000

CHPK is hiring an External Wall Consultant in Central London.

This is a full-time onsite role in the Consulting team. The role sits within CHPK, a consultancy focused on fire safety engineering across the built environment.

You will lead and deliver complex external wall, façade, and cladding projects. These projects may include residential, commercial, healthcare, mixed-use, and other building types.

You will provide technical input, manage project delivery, support junior team members, and help grow the external wall service.

This role is a strong fit for an experienced Wall Consultant or engineer who understands compliance, client service, and the wider building safety landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead project delivery: Manage external wall, façade, and cladding consultancy work across different sectors
• Prepare reports: Produce external wall assessment reports, PAS 9980 appraisals, façade risk assessments, and technical reviews
• Carry out investigations: Support intrusive surveys, site inspections, materials reviews, and construction checks
• Give technical advice: Provide input at feasibility, design, construction, remediation, and occupation stages
• Work with others: Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, manufacturers, Building Control, Fire and Rescue Services, and the Building Safety Regulator
• Support business growth: Help with fee proposals, project scopes, and client meetings
• Maintain standards: Provide peer review and make sure technical work is accurate, clear, and compliant
• Support the team: Mentor junior consultants and graduate engineers and share knowledge through CPD and day-to-day guidance

About You

• Qualified: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Façade Engineering, Fire Engineering, Building Surveying, Civil or Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related subject
• Professionally developing: Chartered or working towards chartership with a relevant body such as IFE, RICS, CIBSE, IStructE, or SFE
• Experienced: Strong experience in a similar external wall consultancy role
• Technically strong: Good knowledge of Building Regulations, PAS 9980, BS 8414, BR 135, CWCT standards, and related guidance
• Clear communicator: Able to work well with colleagues, consultants, and clients
• Client focused: Comfortable building and maintaining strong client relationships
• Supportive: Able to mentor junior staff and work closely with the wider team
• Flexible: Able to work both independently and as part of a team
