Ridge is looking for a Fire Engineer to join its design team.
This role is about more than basic compliance. You will help projects work safely in the real world. You will support fire strategies that are practical, clear and buildable.
You will work with architects, clients and design teams from the early stages of a project. You will help shape design choices and support safe project delivery.
The work is varied. Ridge says its fire engineers work across projects such as Formula 1 facilities, heritage museums, university frameworks and complex historic residential buildings.
This Fire Engineer role suits someone with fire engineering knowledge who wants to grow in a consultancy setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Support fire strategies across a range of projects.
- Carry out fire engineering analysis.
- Prepare calculations and technical reports.
- Work with architects and design teams.
- Work with clients to shape safe design choices.
- Attend project meetings.
- Contribute to technical discussions.
- Support project delivery to programme and budget.
- Help fire engineering link with wider project delivery.
- Apply UK fire safety design guidance in practice.
- Support practical and buildable fire safety solutions.
- Keep advice clear, useful and evidence based.
About You
- Background in fire engineering or a related STEM discipline.
- Relevant degree in Fire Engineering or STEM.
- Working knowledge of UK fire safety design guidance.
- Knowledge of BS 9991.
- Knowledge of BS 9999.
- Knowledge of Approved Document B.
- Able to apply guidance in real project settings.
- Comfortable using engineering thinking to solve problems.
- Keen to work on full projects, not isolated technical tasks.
- Clear communicator.
- Confident working in team settings.
- Interested in developing towards professional registration.
- Interest in IFE membership or an equivalent route.
