Description

Ridge is looking for a Senior Fire Risk Assessor to join its team.

This is a permanent, full-time role. You can be based from one of Ridge’s offices. Listed locations include Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Cambridge, Oxford, Cheltenham, Cardiff, Plymouth, Bristol, Winchester, Reading and London.

You will carry out site-based fire risk assessments across a range of sectors. These include industrial, commercial and residential buildings.

You will work with client teams to plan inspections and remedial works. You will also give clear advice on fire safety, building standards and compliance.

This Fire Risk role suits someone with strong fire safety knowledge, proven assessment experience and the ability to sign off reports before they go to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out site-based fire risk assessments.
  • Work across industrial buildings.
  • Work across commercial buildings.

  • Coordinate inspection programmes.

  • Check buildings against fire-related Building Regulations.
  • Check buildings against technical standards.

  • Help obtain estimates.
  • Plan programmes of work.
  • Monitor works on site.
  • Check works against agreed specifications.
  • Give advice on fire matters linked to Building Regulations approval.
  • Authorise and sign off Fire Risk assessments before client submission.
  • Carry out annual internal audits on Fire Risk Assessors.
  • Work to fixed budgets.
  • Meet tight deadlines.
  • Use a practical and methodical approach to problem solving.

About You

  • Experience in a similar fire safety role.
  • Experience carrying out fire risk assessments.
  • Experience across a range of premises.
  • Full knowledge of current fire safety law.
  • Strong knowledge of the Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order.
  • Strong knowledge of current technical standards.
  • Good understanding of fire safety issues and best practice.
  • Minimum Level 4 qualification in fire risk management.
  • Or Level 5 qualification in fire risk assessment or fire engineering.
  • Completed an IFE-approved fire risk assessment course.
  • Registered on the national register of Fire Risk Assessors.
  • Registration through IFE, FRACS or IFSM.
  • IFSM registration must be at least Tier 3.
  • Experience as a Validator under the BAFE SP205-1 Scheme.
  • Driving licence required.
  • Able to travel regularly.
  • Able to work on a consultancy or in-house basis.
  • Ex-fire and rescue service inspecting officer experience would be suitable if backed by strong premises audit experience.
