Description

Osterna, part of RMG and Places for People Group, is looking for an experienced Fire Risk Assessor.

This is a permanent, full-time role covering North London and surrounding areas. The salary is up to £50,000, depending on experience. The role also includes a £4,500 car allowance and an up to 10% performance-related bonus.

You will work 37.5 hours per week. You will be home based when not carrying out site visits.

You will usually complete up to 10 site visits per week, Monday to Friday. Most visits will be to residential buildings. National travel may also be needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out Fire Risk Assessments: Inspect residential buildings and assess fire risk.
  • Work across housing types: Visit traditional blocks, sheltered housing, HMOs and high-rise homes over 18 metres.
  • Inspect common areas: Assess internal and external common areas in residential developments.
  • Complete reports: Write clear reports with your findings and recommendations.
  • Identify actions: Highlight repairs or other actions needed to keep buildings safe.
  • Support property managers: Provide reports that help Property Managers and Directors take action.
  • Assess health and safety: Complete suitable and sufficient health and safety assessments where required.
  • Complete Type 1 and Type 3 FRAs: Carry out relevant Fire Risk Assessments as needed.
  • Complete compartmentation surveys: Assess compartmentation where required.
  • Apply legislation: Work in line with fire safety law and guidance.
  • Support compliance: Help make sure residential common areas remain safe.
  • Maintain quality: Produce accurate, detailed and useful reports.

About You

Osterna is looking for someone with:

  • Fire Risk experience: Experience carrying out fire risk assessment work in residential property.
  • High-rise experience: Experience assessing high-rise residential buildings.
  • Driving licence: A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • NEBOSH Fire: NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety.
  • NEBOSH General: Level 3 NEBOSH National General Certificate.
  • IFSM registration: NFRA register with IFSM, or willingness to work towards this.
  • Type 1 and Type 3 FRA experience: Experience carrying out Type 1 and Type 3 Fire Risk Assessments.
  • HSFRA experience: Experience undertaking suitable and sufficient Health and Safety Fire Risk Assessments.
  • Compartmentation knowledge: Experience carrying out compartmentation surveys.
  • Report accuracy: Strong attention to detail in written reports.
  • Legal knowledge: Strong knowledge of current health and safety law.
  • Fire Safety Order knowledge: Knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
  • Sector guidance knowledge: Understanding of relevant local government guidance and how it applies to residential property.
  • LaCORS knowledge: LaCORS experience would be useful, but is not essential. Training will be provided.
