Description

Arup is hiring a Fire Engineer in the UK. You will join a well-established fire safety team working on a wide range of projects. These include historic buildings, cultural projects, timber buildings, and other major developments across the UK.

You will help deliver fire safety engineering services as part of a large network of fire safety specialists working across many offices. You will also work closely with wider design teams and other disciplines.

This role is a strong fit for a Fire Engineer who wants to build technical skills, support meaningful projects, and work towards Chartered Engineer status.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply fire science: Use fire engineering principles on live projects
  • Develop strategies: Help create fire strategies with design teams and stakeholders
  • Support project delivery: Contribute to fire safety engineering work from design through construction
  • Use guidance well: Apply UK legislation, standards, and fire safety guidance to your projects
  • Assess risks: Help identify fire safety issues and support practical solutions
  • Write clearly: Prepare reports and technical documents to a high standard
  • Work with others: Collaborate with fire safety colleagues and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Manage workload: Support several projects at the same time and meet deadlines

About You

  • Qualified: Degree in fire engineering, another engineering subject, or an architecture-related subject
  • Experienced: Background in fire engineering consultancy or a similar industry setting
  • Knowledgeable: Good understanding of UK fire safety law, guidance, and the current regulatory regime
  • Strong communicator: Clear report writing and good communication skills
  • Collaborative: Works well with others and brings a positive approach to team work
  • Organised: Able to manage more than one project at a time
  • Proactive: Looks for solutions and knows when to ask for support
  • Career focused: Working towards Chartered Engineer status or strongly motivated to achieve it
