FRAEW Consultant | Mobile / Remote | Competitive Salary

Bellrock is looking for a FRAEW Consultant to join its team.

This is a permanent role. It is mobile and remote, with site travel across the UK. The working pattern is Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.

You will carry out external wall system assessments on multi-occupied residential buildings. You will also complete EWS1 forms where required.

You will undertake Fire Risk Appraisals of External Walls in line with PAS 9980. This work will help clients understand external wall risk and support safer building management.

This Consultant role suits someone with strong technical knowledge of external wall systems, fire safety and façade risk. You should be able to inspect buildings, write clear reports and give practical advice.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out external wall system surveys.
• Complete intrusive and non-intrusive inspections.
• Inspect cladding, insulation and balconies.
• Inspect cavity barriers and fire stopping.
• Produce EWS1 assessments.
• Complete EWS1 forms where required.
• Undertake FRAEW work in line with PAS 9980.
• Review documents and site evidence.
• Identify materials and assess risk.
• Prepare clear technical reports.
• Provide ratings, conclusions and recommendations.
• Recommend remediation or safeguarding actions.
• Apply fire safety law and guidance.
• Use RICS guidance and relevant British Standards.
• Work with building owners and managing agents.
• Work with lenders, valuers and project teams.
• Keep survey evidence clear and well recorded.
• Use photographs, records and sampling where needed.
• Support better survey methods and templates.
• Maintain professional competence in EWS1 and FRAEW work.

About You

• Membership of a recognised professional body such as RICS, IFE, CABE, ICE, CIOB, IStructE or equivalent.
• Completion of the RICS External Wall System Assessment Training Programme, or equivalent EWS1 training.
• Strong knowledge of external wall construction.
• Strong knowledge of façade materials.
• Good knowledge of combustibility classification.
• Good knowledge of cavity barriers and fire stopping.
• Good knowledge of relevant BS EN standards.
• Experience producing EWS1 assessments.
• Experience delivering FRAEW surveys.
• Practical knowledge of PAS 9980.
• Strong technical report writing skills.
• Able to write clear conclusions and actions.
• Able to carry out site inspections.
• Able to collect strong survey evidence.
• Able to manage survey schedules across several sites.
• Confident working with clients, valuers and lenders.
