Description

Crown House Technologies is looking for a Passive Fire Protection Technical Lead to join its team.

This is a permanent role. It can be based in Dartford, Nottingham or Sale.

Crown House Technologies is part of the Laing O’Rourke Group. It is an in-house MEP engineering business. The company works on major construction and infrastructure projects across the UK.

In this role, you will lead on Passive Fire protection across projects. You will help make sure passive fire elements are planned, designed, checked and delivered in the right way.

Passive Fire Protection is a key part of building safety. It links architecture, structure and MEP services. It needs careful planning, strong design work and close teamwork. Because, apparently, buildings do not become safe just because someone added “compliance” to a meeting title.

You will work with Crown House Technologies’ fire team and project teams. You will help set projects up for success and support better fire protection in construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Passive Fire work: Manage passive fire protection for projects across the UK.
  • Support building safety: Help make sure PFP work supports the fire strategy.
  • Manage service penetrations: Oversee passive fire protection around service penetrations.
  • Review building fabric: Support PFP linked to the wider building fabric.
  • Manage risk: Add key PFP risks and opportunities to project registers.
  • Check compliance: Make sure PFP systems meet mandatory requirements.
  • Share knowledge: Lead learning and knowledge sharing across project teams.
  • Support design: Help develop standardised Passive Fire solutions.
  • Coordinate teams: Work with design teams to align PFP with the wider project.
  • Review test data: Check test evidence, specifications and technical information.
  • Select components: Support the choice and record keeping of PFP components.
  • Manage documents: Keep clear records for passive fire systems and design choices.
  • Support delivery: Work with project teams to reduce delivery risks.
  • Manage inspections: Support assurance inspections and quality checks.
  • Oversee handover: Help make sure handover information is complete and clear for clients.

About You

Crown House Technologies is looking for someone with a strong technical mindset and a real interest in Passive Fire protection.

You should have:

  • Technical background: Experience in a technical, design, quality or construction role.
  • Passive Fire interest: A genuine interest in passive fire protection.
  • Fire engineering interest: An interest in fire engineering and building safety.
  • Material knowledge: An understanding of how materials react to fire.
  • Quality focus: A strong eye for quality and detail.
  • Design awareness: The ability to work with design teams and technical documents.
  • Construction knowledge: An understanding of how projects are delivered on site.
  • Team approach: The ability to work with fire, design, MEP and project teams.
  • Learning mindset: A strong wish to learn and grow in a fast-growing sector.
  • Problem-solving skills: The ability to spot risks and help find practical answers.

Crown House Technologies is open to candidates from different backgrounds, including:

  • Architecture
  • Structural engineering
  • MEP
  • Quality
  • Construction
