Description
Stantec is looking for a Principal Fire Risk Consultant to take a leading role in its growing specialist team.
This is a senior role for someone with strong technical skill, client confidence and leadership experience. You will lead complex fire risk projects, guide clients and help shape the growth of the team across the South.
You will work in a wider multi-disciplinary business, which means you can draw on wider expertise to solve problems in a joined-up way. Apparently, buildings become easier to manage when experts speak to each other. A shocking breakthrough.
About Stantec
Stantec is a global design, engineering and consultancy business.
The company has more than 34,000 employees across more than 450 locations and 6 continents. It has worked with clients and communities in the UK for more than 150 years.
Stantec helps plan, design, deliver and manage the places and infrastructure that support healthier and more sustainable communities.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Fire Risk Consultant, you will lead high-value work and act as a trusted adviser to clients.
You will:
- Lead fire risk work: Manage complex consultancy projects from start to finish.
- Advise clients: Help clients understand fire safety duties and next steps.
- Review assessments: Oversee fire risk assessments and related outputs.
- Check quality: Provide quality assurance across key commissions.
- Guide programmes: Support fire safety improvement plans for clients.
- Manage relationships: Build long-term, trusted client links.
- Support growth: Help prepare fee proposals and win new work.
- Spot wider needs: Identify where Stantec’s wider services can add value.
- Mentor colleagues: Support the growth of junior and mid-level team members.
- Set standards: Help define technical standards and ways of working.
- Support operations: Help shape the day-to-day development of the team.
- Improve outcomes: Deliver advice that is practical, clear and robust.
Fire Risk Responsibilities
This Fire Risk role is focused on safe, practical and evidence-led advice.
You will help clients manage legal duties, compliance needs and safety improvements across buildings and estates. You will also help make sure reports are clear, defensible and useful.
The role will suit someone who understands the real-world challenge of occupied buildings, live estates and complex client needs. Because theory is lovely until someone asks how it works in a building full of people, budgets and ageing fire doors.
About You
You will be an experienced fire risk professional who can lead complex work and give clear advice.
You will bring:
- Strong experience: Extensive experience delivering fire risk consultancy work.
- Leadership skills: The ability to lead projects, guide teams and support growth.
- Technical knowledge: Strong fire safety and fire risk assessment knowledge.
- Client confidence: The ability to act as a trusted adviser to clients.
- Quality focus: Experience reviewing high-level technical outputs.
- Commercial awareness: Confidence supporting proposals and winning new work.
- Problem solving: The ability to manage complex technical issues.
- Clear communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Team support: A strong interest in mentoring and developing colleagues.
- Strategic thinking: The ability to help shape client plans and team direction.
