A2Dominion is looking for an experienced Building Surveyor to join its Repairs and Maintenance team.

This role focuses on damp, mould and disrepair across A2Dominion’s housing portfolio. You will inspect homes, diagnose issues, manage risks and help make sure properties are safe, compliant and well maintained.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Surveyor, you will carry out inspections, assess defects and provide clear technical advice.

You will:

  • Inspect homes: Carry out property surveys and condition inspections.
  • Diagnose issues: Find the cause of damp, mould and disrepair.
  • Write reports: Provide clear findings, evidence and recommendations.
  • Plan works: Work with repairs and maintenance teams to schedule the right action.
  • Manage risks: Spot risks linked to cost, safety, programme and compliance.
  • Support residents: Help resolve issues that affect people’s homes and wellbeing.
  • Assess defects: Carry out full property checks and identify repair needs.
  • Manage compliance: Make sure work meets legal and safety standards.
  • Support adaptations: Undertake surveys for aids and adaptations.
  • Review repair requests: Assess out-of-contract repairs and recommend solutions.
  • Prepare specifications: Write work specs and support tendering.
  • Manage budgets: Use the NHF Schedule of Rates to support cost control.
  • Monitor contractors: Check performance, KPIs and quality of work.
  • Handle complaints: Support service recovery and resident satisfaction.
  • Act as an expert: Provide technical advice and evidence when needed.

Surveyor Responsibilities

This Surveyor role will suit someone who can combine technical knowledge with a calm, resident-focused approach.

You will need to:

  • Manage complex damp and mould cases.
  • Support legal disrepair work.
  • Work with contractors and internal teams.
  • Make clear recommendations.
  • Keep records accurate and up to date.
  • Use data and reports to support decisions.
  • Make sure works meet CDM 2015 requirements.
  • Help improve the condition of homes over time.

About You

You will be confident inspecting homes, diagnosing faults and working with residents, contractors and colleagues.

You will bring:

  • Relevant qualifications: GCSE Maths and English, or equivalent.
  • Technical training: HNC, degree or similar in building surveying, construction, civil engineering or a related subject.
  • Practical experience: At least 2 years’ experience in housing, repairs, maintenance or construction.
  • Damp and mould knowledge: Strong experience diagnosing and reporting damp, mould and disrepair.
  • Legal awareness: Experience supporting legal disrepair cases.
  • Compliance knowledge: Understanding of building rules, housing law and safety standards.
  • CDM knowledge: Good understanding of CDM Regulations 2015.
  • HHSRS knowledge: Awareness of HHSRS and housing legislation.
  • Cost control skills: Experience using the NHF Schedule of Rates.
  • IT skills: Confidence producing clear technical reports.
  • People skills: The ability to work well with residents, contractors and teams.
  • Driving licence: A full clean UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
