This is a strong opportunity for someone with deep Fire Engineering experience, strong leadership skills, and a clear understanding of technical, commercial, and regulatory demands.

About the Role

As Head of Fire Engineering, you will lead the Fire Engineering service line across the business.

You will oversee technical quality, commercial performance, and long-term growth. You will also support senior engineers, manage technical governance, and help shape the direction of the team.

The role combines leadership, technical oversight, and client engagement. So, it suits someone who can guide complex work while also helping the business grow in a controlled and effective way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the national Fire Engineering team, including senior and principal staff.
  • Oversee technical governance and help make sure outputs meet legal and professional standards.
  • Support consistent application of key guidance, including Approved Document BBS 7974PAS 9980, and the Building Safety Act.
  • Manage technical peer review and sign-off structures.
  • Support commercial performance, including utilisation, revenue, and pipeline growth.
  • Help shape bid strategy, fee proposals, and major submissions.
  • Manage team capacity, recruitment, and growth planning.
  • Support the development of fire modelling and performance-based engineering services.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex technical issues or client concerns.
  • Work closely with Fire Risk, FRAEW, and Compliance teams across the business.
  • Maintain awareness of professional indemnity risk and support strong technical defensibility.
  • Represent Bellrock at senior client meetings and industry events where needed.

About You

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) through a recognised professional engineering institution.
  • Strong experience in Fire Engineering consultancy.
  • Proven experience leading complex, high-rise, or performance-based projects.
  • Strong commercial understanding and experience managing team performance.
  • Deep knowledge of UK fire safety law, Building Regulations, and performance-based design.
  • Experience leading and mentoring senior technical professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of governance, quality control, and technical sign-off.
  • Good understanding of professional indemnity risk in consultancy.
  • Confident communicator who can work well with clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Able to balance compliance, risk, and commercial priorities.

What Bellrock Offers

  • Permanent full-time role.
  • Competitive salary.
  • Flexible and mobile working across London and other UK sites.
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and one extra day.
  • Pension, life cover, and paid sick leave.
  • Health cash plan, virtual GP, and wellbeing support.
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption leave.
  • Cycle to work scheme and holiday purchase scheme.
  • Staff discounts, refer a friend scheme, and other employee benefits.
  • Learning, development, and support in an inclusive working environment.

How to Apply

Please apply through Bellrock’s normal application process.

The role is full time and involves mobile working across London and other UK locations from Monday to Friday.

Application Tips

In your application, focus on clear examples of leading Fire Engineering teams, managing technical quality, and delivering complex projects in regulated environments. Show your experience of technical governance, performance-based design, client leadership, and commercial management, and include examples of how you have helped improve standards, grow teams, or manage risk successfully.
