Description

Bellrock is looking for a Technical Director to lead technical governance across its Fire and Asset Compliance services.

This is a senior role with a clear focus on risk, quality, compliance and professional standards. You will provide independent technical oversight across fire engineering, fire risk, building surveying, six-facet surveys, asbestos management and water hygiene.

You will help make sure Bellrock’s technical work is accurate, legal, consistent and ready for audit. In plain English: you stop important compliance work from turning into a beautifully formatted legal headache. A noble public service, really.

About Bellrock

Bellrock is a UK property services business that helps organisations manage estates in a smarter way.

The company uses people, data and technology to improve compliance, quality, cost control and building performance. Its services cover consulting, critical engineering, intelligent asset care and technology.

Bellrock also uses platforms such as Concerto IWMS, Mobiess and InMetriks to support data-led estate management at scale.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Technical Director, you will lead technical governance across complex compliance services.

You will:

  • Set technical standards: Own templates, methods, reports and governance frameworks.
  • Lead technical governance: Make sure fire and asset services are legal, robust and aligned with industry rules.
  • Manage accreditations: Oversee UKAS schemes, BAFE, FIRAS, ISO standards and other relevant frameworks.
  • Lead audits: Prepare for external audits, renewals and reviews.
  • Maintain competence: Build competence frameworks linked to current regulation and sector standards.
  • Track legal change: Monitor new law, guidance and industry reform.
  • Interpret regulation: Give clear views on fire safety, building compliance, asbestos and water hygiene rules.
  • Support CPD: Oversee technical learning and professional development across the division.
  • Resolve disputes: Act as the final point of escalation for complex technical issues.
  • Manage risk: Support professional indemnity controls and review high-risk outputs.
  • Support operations: Work with leaders to embed standards in delivery teams.
  • Shape services: Make sure new services are technically sound before launch.
  • Support bids: Add technical credibility to tenders and client proposals.

Technical Director Responsibilities

This Technical Director role will suit someone who can work at senior level while still caring about the detail.

You will provide oversight that is separate from day-to-day delivery. This helps protect technical quality, reduce risk and keep the business ready for audit.

You will also help Bellrock stay aligned with key rules, standards and certification schemes. That means clear methods, strong records and teams who know what good looks like. Astonishingly, “just wing it” remains a poor compliance strategy.

About You

You will be a senior technical leader with deep experience in fire safety, engineering, building surveying or asset compliance.

You will bring:

  • Senior experience: Strong experience across fire safety, engineering, surveying or compliance.
  • Technical authority: Credibility across more than one compliance area.
  • Governance skills: A clear grasp of technical standards, audit needs and risk controls.
  • Regulatory knowledge: Strong knowledge of fire, building, asbestos and water hygiene rules.
  • Accreditation experience: Experience with UKAS or similar accredited schemes.
  • Policy experience: The ability to develop technical policy, frameworks or standards.
  • Risk awareness: Strong understanding of professional indemnity and governance risk.
  • Team leadership: Experience leading technical teams across several disciplines.
  • Communication skills: The ability to influence senior leaders, clients and regulators.
  • Calm judgement: Confidence handling complex, high-risk or disputed issues.
  • AI fluency: Curiosity about AI and the ability to use new tools to improve work.

Key Knowledge Areas

You should have strong knowledge of:

  • Building Safety Act 2022
  • Fire Safety Act 2021
