Ridge is looking for a Fire Risk Assessor or Senior Fire Risk Assessor to join its growing team. This role can be based in any of its offices across the UK.

About the role
As a Senior Fire Risk Assessor, you will carry out site-based Fire Risk assessments across a range of sectors. These will include industrial, commercial, and residential properties.
You will use bespoke tablet-based technology to record findings, collect data, and complete assessments within agreed timescales.
This role would suit:
- an experienced Fire Risk Assessor working in consultancy or in-house
- a professional who is happy to travel regularly
- a former fire and rescue service inspecting officer with strong experience of auditing premises under the Fire Safety Order
- someone with the right qualifications, registration, and technical knowledge

What you will do
Carry out Fire Risk assessments
Inspect a wide range of buildings
You will conduct site-based fire risk assessments across industrial, commercial, and residential premises.
Use digital tools to gather evidence
You will use tablet-based systems to record findings, collect data, and support the production of clear and accurate reports.
Work to agreed timescales
You will complete inspections and related work within set deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality.
Support clients and project planning
Coordinate inspection and remedial programmes
You will communicate regularly with client teams to help plan inspections and remedial works.
Advise on regulations and standards
You will help make sure buildings meet current fire-related building regulations and technical standards.
Prepare schedules and scope of work
You will take details on site, write schedules of required works, and help prepare specifications, obtain estimates, and plan programmes of work.
Monitor works on site
You will help monitor progress on site and check that works are being completed in line with the agreed specification.
Provide technical advice
Solve problems in a practical way
You will use a practical and organised approach to solve problems, often within fixed budgets and tight deadlines.
Support Building Regulations matters
You will provide advice on applications for Building Regulations approval on fire-related matters.
Sign off assessments
You will authorise and sign off Fire Risk Assessments before they are submitted to clients.
Maintain quality standards
Carry out internal audits
You will conduct annual internal audits of Fire Risk Assessors to help maintain consistency and quality.
Support best practice
You will help ensure assessments are completed in line with legislation, technical guidance, and good professional standards.
What you need for this role
Knowledge and technical understanding
To be considered, you must be fully familiar with current fire safety legislation, including:
- the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order
- current technical standards
- current fire safety issues and trends
- best practice in fire risk assessment
If you do not meet these requirements, Ridge will not be able to take your application forward.
Qualifications and registration
You will also need:
- a minimum Level 4 qualification in fire risk management, or a Level 5 qualification in fire risk assessment or fire engineering
- completion of an IFE-approved fire risk assessment course
- registration on the national register of Fire Risk Assessors through IFE, FRACS, or IFSM
- if registered through IFSM, a minimum of Tier 3 registration
- experience as a Validator under the BAFE SP205-1 Scheme
Licence requirement
- a full driving licence is required
Experience needed

- strong experience in a similar role
- experience carrying out fire risk assessments across different types of premises
- the ability to work independently and manage site-based work effectively
- the confidence to deal with clients and provide sound technical advice
